Background Index - ONE-EYE is a 2-channel video installation featuring
documentary research around the Gran Sasso Massif – inside the laboratory, buried under the mountain, and around the city of l‘Aquila
and its surroundings. The work is framed through the folkloric story
of the Cyclops, as circulated in the region. While the narrator reads this story in Italian, the synchronized
video work is projected on two sides of a circular screen.
An automatic, non-human editing system chooses a different path
through the material - multiplying possibilities and
discovering associations in the exploration of the mountain. Though the
story is repeated again and again, the film is never the same.
